The Toyota Corolla AE86 is a two-door, rear-wheel drive, front-engine, sports coupé and liftback produced between 1983 and 1987. Two different bodies were placed on the AE86 base: the Toyota Corolla Levin and the Toyota Sprinter Trueno. Their only visual difference was that the Levin had standard headlights, while the Trueno had retractable ones. It was equipped with a 1.6-litre 4AGE engine generating around 120 hp in stock condition, some markets received even less powerful engines. The car weighs less than a ton (2200lb), resulting in a decent power-to-weight ratio. This Corolla has a solid rear axle and a short wheelbase. These traits mean that its handling on the edge is quite twitchy. Drifting in a Corolla doesn’t rely as much on the handbrake or power.
