Had the opportunity to celebrate two Toyotas linked by a common lineage.
40 years ago the AE86 Corolla instantly became an enthusiast favourite, an affordable, entry-level sports hatchback or coupe that would reward clean and precise driving. It was an instant hit and almost 30 years later Toyota brought back that same spirit in the ZN6, the new age 86.
Now in its second “GR86” iteration the affordable FR coupe continues that success and popularity with a more refined chassis, evolved design as slightly bigger more powerful boxer 4.
Alec’s AE86 is a good example of the level of tune most owner of these cars reach, tighter handling, tweaked looks and a few mechanical mods to keep it all fun and exciting.
The Adro Japan GR86 sports their full widebody conversion, boosting looks and impact, especially when it sits aired out on its Rays 21As.
