This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2026 Toyota GR86 Yuzu edition.
The 2026 Toyota GR86 is powered by a 2.4L boxer flat-four with direct injection, it has either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission, 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, RWD only. In Canada, there is only one automatic trim choice but in the US, all trims come with either a manual or automatic. The GR86 has a standard active rear sport differential and an independent double wishbone rear suspension.
New for 2026 is our test model, the 2026 Toyota GR86 Yuzu Edition exclusively in yellow, it’s a throwback to the Scion FR-S. In Canada, this special Edition trim is offered only with a manual transmission. It has Sachs dampers, Brembo brakes, a cat-back exhaust system, 18” matte black alloy wheels and gloss black lug nuts.
The 2026 Toyota GR86 cabin is simple, nothing fancy, the focus is on the handling and the engaging experience it offers. Everything is at your fingertips, it’s easy to access and all about the driver. The Yuzu Edition adds some unique features like yellow stitching on the steering wheel, door trim and shift knob plus yellow accented leather/Alcantara seats. The front offers some pretty good space for a small sports car, but the rear seats are best suited for bags, packages, your groceries and small children. I like having a couple of seats in the back even if it’s just for stuff, it gives you more space and I miss that in our MX-5.
We have the available heated front seats and 8-speaker audio system in our model, but the 2026 Toyota GR86 doesn’t come with a lot of features, no heated steering wheel or power seats.
In Canada, the 2026 Toyota GR86 pricing includes, freight, PDI and fees. MT $35,708, Premium MT $38,708, Premium Automatic $40,673, Yuzu Edition MT $47,838.
In the US, MSRP MT/Automatic $31,200/$32,300, Premium MT/Automatic $33,800/$34,900, Yuzu Edition MT/Automatic $36,365/$37,465.
2026 Toyota GR86 fuel economy, it gets 12L/100 km, 20 MPG city and 8.9L/100 km, 26 MPG highway.
